Foundations

The recipes underneath the recipes.

There are recipes for everything.  For a Happy Life,  to catch a trout, to surf, and to swim.

But only you can bring the directions to life and  no matter who is making the recipe.  It will never be the same again, never, ever, ever again.

Cooking, like swimming or running, is a long distance sport that requires endurance.   Physical and sometimes mental endurance (repetitive tasks and cleaning up). Only with endurance can you gain experience.  Most of us, before we can gain more experience, will have to clean up our own messes.  Hence, endurance is always a +.

More than endurance is, of course, curiosity.  Lifelong curiosity serves US all.  With 10,000 hours you can become an expert at anything.

Most of Life’s necessary skills can be taught in the kitchen.  Safety, cleanliness, planning, budgeting, perseverance, manners, logic, and many scientific principals, if so inclined. Recipes are for so much more than the food we to put in our bodies.

The kitchen is the great laboratory in the heart of our homes.  Where there is no doubt what will happen if you do certain things.  At a certain temperature, the water will boil and the muffins will burn.  Truth. Like Science.  Is literally, and figuratively,  undeniable in the kitchen.

Sometimes there isn’t even any food in the kitchen.  That’s just where we end up.   In the kitchen, where  love and traditions can not be measured.
